A UNESCO’s World Heritage Site - Sundarbans National Park is nestled on the southern tip of West Bengal at the convergence of the land and sea. Dense mangrove forest and great bio-diversity are some of the attributes of this national mark. Being the largest Tiger Reserve, this place has become a must visit destination for the adventure seekers.  Along with being the home of varied species of mammals and reptiles, this national park also serves as the home for various migratory birds. The features like being a constituent of the world's largest delta (Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna), numerous creeks and tributaries and world’s largest estuarine forest, make the Sundarbans National Park a paradisiacal place to visit.

Location: Sprawled over an area of 3,850 sq km. About one-third of the area is marshy. This picturesque national park is located at the delta in West Bengal.

Wildlife: Along with being the abode of tigers, Sundarbans National Park also serves as a natural habitat for rhesus monkey, chital deer, etc. Various reptiles and marine life could also be explored and could spot a variety of fishes, hermit crabs, red fiddler crabs, crocodiles, ridley sea turtle, rock python, king cobra, water monitor, etc. Some of the endangered species like batagur baska, terrapin, barking deer, etc., also serve as the attraction for the adventure seekers. Additionally, Sundarbans National Park is also synonymous to paradise for birdwatchers as very rare species of birds like mangrove pitta, mangrove whistler and masked finfoot find their home in this national park.


 
Best Time to Visit: During winters, months between December and February, is the best time to visit the Sundarbans National Park and enjoy wildlife. For the bird lovers, the park is also open during the months of September to March as the huge number of migratory birds could be spotted.
